For six months in 2021, Jacob Farrell and Julia McKinlay have been collaborating remotely and building shared research surrounding the language, forms and material hierarchy associated with industrial processes. Jacob has written this essay for the their exhibition Scoria. The text explores the history of metallurgic waste, keys, corkscrews, Roman pollution and the materiality of insults in response to Julia’s sculptures.
The publication includes a signed, limited edition risograph print by Julia McKinlay.
