Sculpture Open Call: Marcel Curates at Threshold
Sculptors living in Yorkshire are invited to submit work for
consideration in the ninth exhibition at Threshold, Leeds, titled Marcel
Curates, due to take place in September/October 2026.
To enable a tactile and playful curatorial process, artists
are asked to send a physical companion to an existing sculpture they would like
to exhibit. This will be used by the curatorial team in the selection of works.
This companion piece could, for instance, be a model, maquette, conceptual
extension or material sample of the sculpture intended for exhibition.
The exhibition will be curated by Marcel. Marcel is a cat. Marcel
has lived on Argie Terrace since 2023 and has spent more time than most
engaging with and informally invigilating the work at Threshold. Marcel’s
curatorial project – which will involve a documented process of selection,
engagement and placement of work – will be supported by Jonathan Orlek, Julia
McKinlay, and Benjamin Barra.
